What is Metro Mayhem: Winter?
Metro Mayhem takes our Treasure Hunt format and unleashes it on the London Transport system. A pile of checkpoints are hidden all across the TFL network, from Zone 1 all the way to 6.
Not all checkpoints are equal. Each gives points weighted by difficulty. The harder/further it is to get to, the more it's worth. Some locations offer bonus points for the first visitors, so strategy matters. TFL transport only: no taxis, personal bikes, or TFL Santander bikes.
This is a shorter version of Metro Mayhem, running for 3 hours instead of the usual 5. It still includes a 30-minute rest break, to account for the increased likelihood of cold and wet weather at this time of year.
We've also factored conditions into our checkpoint design, choosing locations that keep you out of the elements as much as we can.
How the day runs
A quick 15-minute briefing at a Zone 1 public location on Saturday 13 February 2027, before the checkpoints unlock.
Our tracking app unlocks the checkpoints at 13:00 sharp. You've got 3 hrs to hoover up as many points as you can, including a 30-minute rest break along the way. You must be at the finish by 16:00.
Scores are tallied and the results announced over drinks at a warm indoor venue near the finish (details in your race pack). With daylight in short supply this time of year, we've shifted the whole day earlier so everyone's finished, warmed up, and celebrating well before dark.
